The TRICONEX 4409 SMM (Safety Management Module) serves as the interface between the Tricon controller and the Honeywell Universal Control Network (UCN), which is the three main networks of the TDC 3000 distributed control system
One of them. The TRICONEX 4409 SMM appears as a secure node on the UCN in the Honeywell system and transmits process information at full network data rates for use anywhere on the TDC-3000. SMM transfers all alias data (including system variables and system aliases) and diagnostic information of the Tricon controller to the operating workstation in a display format familiar to Honeywell operators.
