The Triconex Event Sequence (SOE) recorder software allows you to retrieve event data TRICONEX 2658 from up to 31 Triconex controllers on the network. This event data can be used to identify the cause of downtime, define corrective measures and preventive maintenance procedures, and address other process control issues. Understanding the sequence of events that lead to unsafe process conditions and possible TRICONEX 2658 shutdowns may be crucial for safe applications. For Triconex controllers, events are Boolean variables whose state changes from true to false or from false to true. The Triconex controller can collect events and record the date, time, state, and variable names of each event in the SOE block, residing in the controller's memory. This figure shows the Triconex controller, TriStation1131, and SOE recorder interacting to provide event sequence functionality. To enable the controller to detect event data, it is necessary to define event variables and SOE blocks in the three station application. In addition, the application must include blocks for SOE function initiation event collection. Download the SOE enabled application to the controller, and TriStation creates a SOE definition file containing SOE block definitions. To retrieve events using the SOE recorder, the SOE recorder PC must be connected to the communication port on the Triconex controller. You can also retrieve events from Triconex for controllers with SOE programs on non Triconex external devices. You must use TriStation to set the IP address of the controller and specify the address in the SOE logger.
