1/0 (English: Input/Output) refers to the input and output of data between internal storage and external storage or other peripheral devices. Input/Output (abbreviated as I/O) is the communication between information processing systems (such as calculators) and the external world (possibly humans or other information processing systems). The input is the signal or data received by the system, while the output is the signal or data sent from it. This term can also be used as a part of an action; To "run I/O" is to run input or output operations. Input/output devices are hardware components used by humans (or other systems) to communicate with calculators. For example, a keyboard or mouse is the input device of a calculator, while a monitor and printer are the output devices. Communication devices between calculators (such as telecommunications modems and network cards) typically run input and output operations.
