MVME162-522A is an embedded controller launched by Motorola, which continues Emerson's migration path of embedded controllers starting from the MVME5100 series. It provides customers with migration solutions from MVME2300, MVME2400, MVME2600, MVME2700, and MVME5100 boards, allowing customers to utilize MPC7455 and other functional processors, Gigabit Ethernet, and dual independent 33/66 MHz PMC sites.
The MVME162-522A series supports two configurable P2 I/O modes: PMC mode and IPMC mode. PMC mode is backward compatible with MVME2300. In PMC mode, 64 pins from PMC slot 1 and 46 pins from PMC slot 2 can be used for PMC rear I/O. In IPMC mode, the MVME5500 series supports traditional MVME761 or MVME712M I/O modules (with limitations). When the IPMC761 or IPMC712PMC card is filled in PMC slot 1, PMC slot 2 contains some pins reserved for expanding the SCSI.
